The village and parish of Woodwalton and Church End in Huntingdonshire.

Woodwalton has a long history. A considerable hoard of Roman coins were found here. At Church End are the scant remains of Woodwalton Castle, a Norman Motte and Bailey castle within a moat and earthen ramparts. The village is set around a green upon which a cross once stood, only the base remains next to the War Memorial. The Manor House, Abbey Farm and Red House Farm are all 17th century.

Woodwalton Fen, occupying about 114 acres in the north east of the parish, was scheduled as a National Nature Reserve (NNR) in 1954. For the previous 35 years it had been maintained as a nature reserve by the Society for the Promotion of Nature Reserves. The is one of the few fens of East Anglia which still retain their original character although the drainage of the surrounding land has greatly lowered the water level. This fen is well know as the place where the extinct large copper butterfly has been successfully reintroduced from Holland. Many rare insect, birds and aquatic plants are found here. (PLEASE NOTE: Public access the nature reserve is via Ramsey Heights.).

The church dedicated to St Andrew, is located in a field about a mile from the village, it dates mainly from the 13th and 14th centuries but has been considerably restored, a process which is still ongoing today. Fragments of beautiful glass in the chancel windows is of the 14th century.

Woodwalton and Church End is one of the parishes of the District of Huntingdonshire, whose administrative centre is Huntingdon, the other principle towns being St Ives home of the Chapel on the Bridge, St Neots the largest town in the County of Cambridgeshire, the Roman town of Godmanchester and Ramsey site of the former Abbey.
